speech 2014
“We realize the importance of our voices only when we are silenced
A Quote from Malala yousafzai,
a strong inspirational girl.
I am going to tell you who she is and why she is who she is.
She was born in 1997 in Mingora Pakistan.
Her home town was a popular tourist place and threw great summer festivals.
She attended a school that her father founded after the Taliban began attacking girls schools and education. Her education ran smoothly until......
The Taliban who believed that girls shouldn't have an education started to mold the area and tried to make it there own and take control over it.
How would that feel the place you loved knew and cared about, taken over by new comers who think they're so powerful?
point 2
Malala started a protest for girls education. From where she came from it was a not common thing. Actually most people were scared of what was going to happen. They were scared of the Taliban!
When she was young she became and advocate for girls education. She started up a blog and to protect her identity she used a fake name witch was Gul makai. She started blogging about how she thought girls should have the same education rights as men. That's fair isn't it! Malala started to get lots of followers and people who thought the same. Imagine having a blog against some one and knowing the risks that come with it but she still stood up for what she thought was right.
When Malala was 14, her family learned that the Taliban had issued a death threat against her. Malala was frighened for her father as he was an anti-Taliban-Activist. She and her family were pretty certain that they wouldn't harm a child.
But little did they know ... on October the 9th 2012 on her way to school a man boarded her school bus. The Man shouted and demanded to know which child was Malala. All her friends looked at her. Her identity was given away . The gunman fired at her hitting her in the head, the bullet travelled down her neck. There were also 2 other girls who got injured.
She was flown to military hospital and needed major treatment. Her life was in a critical condition. Some of her skull was removed so that they could treat her swelling brain. She was lucky to survive with no brain injuries. Although she has struggled and been through a hard time she sent a message to the world. She stood up for all girls and their right to education.
conclusion
And the world listened. In March she attended a school in Birmingham. She reminded everyone that changes can be made.
She has been recognized for her achievements and was rewarded by being nominated for the noble peace prize in March 2013. Also in acknowledgment of her work, the European parliament awarded her the Sakharov prize for freedom of thought.
Malala has inspired me because she fought for what she believed in even when the consequences are life or death matters. Malala has proved to everyone that age and size don't matter. If you believe you can make a difference.

Writing sample 2014
I usually don't like staying at my Aunty and Uncles, but this time i am very excited because I was soon to have another baby cousin. I arrived at there Tall brick house already feeling gloomy, as I dragged myself into there brown door. I was surprised to not have any small body's bouncing around me. Instead there was complete silence. Suddenly there was a small wail that came from the new baby's room. I was Confused because the baby wasn't due till Friday and it was only Wednesday. I wander into the quiet still room Peering over the tall crib rails I see a small still Body. Gorgeous Green eyes, soft cheeks and Golden blonde hair. wrapped in a puffy soft blanket. Firstly i was surprised and glad then my Aunty came in and mumbled "this is your new baby cousin Bridget" I then was nearly screaming With happiness because I finally a baby girl cousin. The small eyelids sparkle in the reflection of the sun, she was a beautiful as a butterfly. After one year I go and stay with Aunty and Uncle. Now I wasn't feeling so dull and gloomy because i had a special little girl to play with. Her beautiful gummy mouth scoffed down a mashed mushy banana. As Bridget grows older her cheeks get more chubby she almost looks as if she is saving a hole watermelon for later. Pre school years were great for her she grew more intelligent and wise, But of course now she can have help from her two older brothers. Jonty 4 years older dark silky brown hair green eyes that softly flicker in the wind. Hugo 2 years older has soft white hair nearly as bright as snow! two gorgeous brothers to look up to plus she has a caring and loving family, Also i forgot to tell you She is going to be a big sister next year.

Hannah camp story whanau responsibility
We all clamber onto the large boat and seat ourselves at the back so we can listen to what the captain has to say ... like the rules! Soon enough we were putting along on the Wellington harbour. We were observing the life around us as we slowly drifted past the city itself.
After we were more in the center of the water we were allowed to climb onto the front bow of the boat so that we could look out in front. We pulled in so close to a water fountain that it was pouring over top of us. The driver was laughing as all the parents rushed back inside and all the kids were hanging off the side trying to get as much water on them as possible.
The boat was large with two wide sides with steps to walk out onto the bow, It had thick black stripes that made the boat look more powerful. We were actually going really slowly but it felt fast.
About half way through the cruise all the kids lunged to the captain's wheel. I wanted to go see what all the fuss was about. I arrived there and everyone was in a line to drive. We were going in circles because the fountain had wet the windscreen so they couldn't see where they were going. Damian was sitting in the high seat. Its step was a beer crate so that the little ones could climb onto the tall seat!
As we travelled along the waterfront we were amazed at how many people were walking along looking for a place to eat. We glided past the Wagamama, which was the place we were going to eat dinner at.
Soon we had seen so many boats in the water that people were dibsing what boats they were going to get. The big rescue boats were my favorite. They were red all over with big life rafts hanging off the side, a small scope at the front to see where the boat was that they needed to help and lots of ropes! It would be very cool if one day we all had a walk around and got to look at all the amazing stuff in there; even better if someone that I knew worked in the boat! It would have been very cool if the boat was going today and it was putting just around the waterfront.
In a while we were floating by (the small boat parking lot). There was a bright orange dingy drifting on the top of the water. It was slowly bouncing up and down. Small boats were all around us and we drifted past them all. I was amazed at how many people like to drift around on the water and just scope out the scenery!
Soon we were back at the beginning of the harbour. We all zipped out and sprinted over to Wagamama to have a good feed!

Hannah's Camp story fav part
As we split into two groups peoples teeth starting to chatter with fear. Screams come out of the dark room. Minutes later two men stumble out and say, “Kids that was not scary” sarcastically.
We wander into the dark filled room find our seats, strap on our seatbelts and get prepared for what is to come. We were about to ride the NZ simulator. Tension filled the air as no one knew what was about to happen.
What a surprise when our chairs started rocking back and forth and completely losing the bottom of the chair attachment. We were driving our ute down to the farm. As we went over a bump our chairs completely bounced up and then fell back down. There were girls riding their bikes. Then I realised that it was us riding our bikes because then we crashed and we all nearly flopped out of our chairs. Soon we were sliding down a hill on a sled and we were going fast. Then suddenly another kid comes and rams us from behind. We stop and then fall out of our sled! It felt so real I thought we were actually doing all of that stuff! It made my tummy feel like it had butterflies because we were rocking up down round and round. You literally didn't know where you were going to go next!
Suddenly it came to a halt. Our legs still felt rocky but the ride was over. Everyone was floating out of their seats. We clambered out the door.
That was certainly the best ride I had ever been on but that wasn't all! There was still the underwater submarine simulator to come! As we wandered back to the center, coming out of the other ride everyone was jumping and shouting how great it was but I knew in my head it wasn't going to be as great as the other one!
Firstly we get our seat. We find it relaxing so we put our feet up. It was quite a calming ride. Then suddenly we crashed into the bottom of the ocean but it still wasn't as scary as the NZ ride. We pounded out and stagger back to the centre to meet again. The room filled with excitement as everyone was trying to say how great the ride was and what their favourite bit was.
The rides were quite fun. I wish we could do them again! I think it was an excellent part of the museum because if there are tourists who want to get a taste of New Zealand the NZ simulator is a perfect way!
